If I express myself to God knowing in my mind that I am seen, heard, safe, (both physically and spiritually), and have experienced God in these realities, then I will move on to truly sensing His love. This is true for you and those you love. It is within the confines of a safe, secure environment that we begin to feel loved. We hear the words spoken to us and if love is shown to us through patient, kind acts, eventually our hearts believe and receive the words. It takes time.

It is the same for our children and the children we may teach. They have to relax down and know they are safe to receive and feel love. We live in both the spiritual and physical realm. We talk to God, and share our hearts with Him. We talk to our children, friends and spouses and share our thoughts with them. And…secure relationships will be built on both levels if we live out what we say. As it has been said, “Actions speak louder than words.”

Jesus showed us the deepest sacrifice of love by dying on the cross for us, in our place, so our sins could be forgiven. He spoke words of love and His actions matched those words. Some of the Apostle Paul”s most famous verses have been a solace to me in facing the gut wrenching realities of living in this sin soggy world. He lists in Romans 8:34-37 all sorts of excruciating scenarios. He expresses the victory that is available to us by God’s Spirit, and closes with verses 38-39.
